Chic'o Rail

"A restaurant with rooms in a quiet location beside the railway station and the river. Our room (No 16) was not your run-of-the-mill bedroom, it had style. Once we had worked out that the coffee maker could also dispense hot water, we were happy, having brought along some instant coffee sachets and bamboo cups (only paper cups were provided in the room). Ample parking behind the building, and there are plenty of good dog walks - especially across the road and along the river bank. We had supper in the restaurant and breakfast in the smaller breakfast room. What I thought would be a Welsh Rarebit was something else altogether, but tasty - and very filling. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully laid out as a buffet. Although we were the only guest that night, the restaurant was jam-packed and clearly VERY popular. This was an excellent place to stay the night before our ferry crossing at Calais."

"Paper cups in the bedroom, and no milk. The sliding door into the shower room didn’t lock and didn’t quite close."

"Our family's 30+ visit to Chic'o, yes the perfect break of journey from the UK, prior to setting off on European travel after the trip on LaShuttle and then the return before leaving for the UK. Not only the perfect accommodation, but a superb kitchen, with a superb Chef and Staff. Mike"

"The smaller steak was too tough to either cut or eat so I had to leave it. This was very disappointing after a long drive I did not want a large meal so chose the smaller steak. The vegetables were beautifully cooked. Also the normal Bookingcom check in did not work as normal. The hotel system seemed different had not registered my normal pre registered details so I had to do it all again.I use Booking.com a couple of times per month so I do not understand it. The online check in was extremely complicated and not normal for Booking . com"

"There's no bar for a pre dinner drink. You have to wait until you have dinner, or go elsewhere. Like I do. Also in room 14 the shower head and holder wasn't working. The room shelves were dusty. Also in room 14 the main light switch for the bathroom is behind the sliding door when the door is open. A bit strange. However, I will continue to use the chico when I'm in St omer."
