"A lovely warm welcome Fantastic location, right across the road from the beach, great walking on the beach, close to cafes and restaurants, we stayed in the penthouse with sea views as far as the eye could see, everything you needed was here, beds were so comfortable, loved it"

"The four square is a 25 min walk away so while there is a oven etc I didn't use them as I didn't have a car. Not even a dairy for basic stuff nearby. In general Whakatane is better suited to people with cars. Bit of mould on the window sills, average comfyness of bed (ok for a night or two but might not want to stay 2 weeks type thing), kinda what you'd expect for a bungalow type beach place at such a reasonable price, but don't be surprised this isn't a hotel."

"We were in the "Penthouse Apartment" which has a great view of the ocean and beach. After your walk on the beach you can relax in the lounge with the ranch sliders open and watch others and the sea or sit on the private deck. The accommodation was well appointed and clean. friendly owner and staff. Would definitely take this room again."

"If you are looking for an exceptional place to stay on the Coromandel peninsula, this is it. The Lodge is quite large with everything you could need: kitchenette, couch and TV, comfy bed, large bathroom (tub + huge shower), terrace and the a spectacular view of Whitianga! As you would expect, it was very quiet, and the layout is such that, that you can enjoy total privacy. Carol and Warren were very welcoming and we had a nice chat every morning with Warren as he brought us a lovely breakfast. The road up the lodge is fairly steep but it wasn't an issue at all, so if you have a decent car I wouldn't worry about it. While in our particular case, we didn't have the best weather throughout the stay, we appreciated that the lodge is furnished so as to feel like home, which made for a cozy day in. I could tell that there was a lot of thought put into the furnishing and decorating of the lodge!"
